We have approximately 2300 miles of motorway in the UK. In most cases this is tree lined, views of fields of green, maybe the sea and distant views of our journey ahead. We can spend hours travelling up and down going about our business.
Of all the beauty that surrounds us, the one thing that stops us and makes us slow down and have a really good look, is an accident.
How many tailbacks have you been in where you discover, with approach, that there is an accident on the other side of the motorway. Some poor soul has had their day ruined, possibly their future and we all slow down to rubber neck. As soon as you drive past the incident, everyone accelerates and the motorway opens up. We continue on our journey not slowing down for the actual beauty that surrounds us.
Of course I am using this as a metaphor. The motorway is not the place to slow down and look at the pretty sites.
This is so much part of life. We look at the negatives. ‘Nothing sticks out like a sore thumb’. We are attuned as beings to be aware of danger. It’s part of our biological make-up to be aware of and avoid danger. Therefore we notice it more. Such a shame that throughout our day that we don't stop, take a breath and take a look.
STOP LOOK BREATH
