The ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complaining or becoming annoyed.

Add this to discipline, and motivation and you will have a powerful trio!

Going after any goal, whether it's mastering a new skill, achieving a fitness target, losing weight, or building a successful business, patience stands alongside discipline and motivation. It's the quiet strength that allows us to persevere through challenges & setbacks. It’s the little voice that says, it’s ok, you've got this even if you can't see or feel any results today. But also it’s not the excuse for taking your time.

Motivation is the key factor that gets up and out, gives us the spark and the drive. Discipline creates the structure and keeps us consistent. Patiences says, come on, this is and will happen. Patiences say keep the motivation, keep the discipline, this is a long journey and even if there are pitfalls or obstructions, know that your motivation and discipline will keep you going.

The reality is you can’t learn to play the keyboard overnight, you can’t increase your V02 max in just a week, you can't lose twenty pounds of weight in a month, a business can’t be made tomorrow. Patience allows us to know this will take some time. With motivation giving me the fire and discipline keeping me organised and ready to show up, my patience will allow me to appreciate the journey. If your journey is proving difficult, change the route, not the destination, but have patience.

This powerful trio is something to be recognised. Not only allowing us to hit our target but giving us clarity in maintaining what we set out to achieve. Discipline and motivation are powerful qualities to have. Add patience: The ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complainingor becoming annoyed. Never lose sight of that. Keep the fire, keep the structure, but be patient.
